What am I doing?
Updated: Aug 19, 2019
Good question!! What AM I doing? I am sure many of you who know me are wondering, so I will do my best to explain what I am attempting through RealFat Life.
I need a project other than being a mom and housekeeper to focus on and be a creative outlet for me. I know that may sound weird. But I have just come to terms with the fact that just caring for kids/cleaning the house 24/7 drives me crazy. I need a creative outlet to help me keep my sanity. :)
I have an intense passion to help people heal their bodies with nutrient-dense food. There are so many tragic stories of people with cancer, infertility, diabetes, birth-defects, learning disabilities etc. And it doesn't have to be that way! So much of that is all preventable just with good nutrition.
I want to help support local farmers by educating people on the necessity of sustainable agriculture. Sustainable agriculture is not really an "option." There won't be any food in the future if we don't switch to a sustainable model. We have got to start putting nutrients back into the soil through regenerative agricultural practices and stop abusing the land. The only way to change the system is to vote with your dollars and support local farmers! Which leads me to my next point...
I want to help connect people with local farmers. Our goal is to create a farm network where we help local farmers to advertise and sell their products and we simultaneously make it easy for consumers to buy from them - all in one place! This is a project that is starting out small for now at our RealFat Farms page.
People are always asking me for my recipes and sources. This website will save me so much time because instead of answering 10 individual text messages about how I made that thing or where I get this thing, I can send them all to my website (or eventually my book!) where all of my recipes and current sources will be. I want my website to offer helpful resources and delicious recipes making it easier for people to embrace ancestral diets and healthy living!
When I stand here before this metaphoric mountain range of plans and ideas listed above- ideas for my website, books, cookbooks, programs, and farm networks we want to create - I am reminded of the song Climb Every Mountain. "Climb every mountain, Search high and low, Follow every byway, Every path you know. Climb every mountain, Ford every stream, Follow every rainbow,'Till you find your dream. A dream that will need All the love you can give, Every day of your life For as long as you live." -from the Sound of Music
I'm glad to have you here following along! Thanks for joining me at the beginning of this leg of my journey. You are witnessing the beginning of something awesome.
